This auction is for a complete vintage Merlin titanium mountain bike with 26″ wheels. The frame measures 20″ from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the top tube, and 23 1/2″ from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube. It weighs only 24 lbs 11oz!
The parts list is s blast from the past:
Answer Alumilite bars
Chris King 1″ headset
Ritchey (?) steel fork
Shimano XTR seatpost
Brooks B17 saddle
XT 7 speed thumb shifters
XTR front and rear derailleurs
Magura Raceline hydraulic rim brakes
Cook Brothers triple cranks
WTB Grease Guard bottom bracket
Shimano XT pedals
Phil Wood alloy thread on hubs
And some WTB tires.
The bike rides well, shifts through all gears, wheels are true, bearings smooth. The rear brake must be bled front brake super strong. All of the bike shows quite a lot of wear with some rust on the non titanium bits, the fork in particular.
I gave it a light cleaning and will let the future owner ride it or restore it as they see fit. A friend is the original owner and asked me to help him sell off one of the vital bikes that don’t seem to be being used.
I am including shipping in the price of the bike. I will be able to ship through bike flights which is regularly fed ex ground. If you need to pay extra for a different shipping arrangement please let me know.
Please see photos, what you see is what you get. When you have any questions please ask BEFORE bidding. Thanks!
